BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

That's how I kind of do things too. Plus I'm a fast smoker so someone tells me 45 mins I'm done in 20 mins. Then again I'm a big boy and full of hot air.
It's a big Ben Cambridge 613. I Freakin love it. My absolute favorite in my (noobish) collection (thanks @Grrrrrr609).

Yeah, flake burns much slower than ribbon, shag, etc.
Yeah..... Too much thought, can be different based on blend, cut, moisture, packing, and smokers habit..... Fast smoker etc

And if you pack too much and run out of time, save it or dump it. Your call. What's a few cents worth of baccy in the scheme of things?

I think, too, that with pipe tobacco, there's the sense that if yiou pitch the remainder of the bowl it's no big deal because you still probably have some remaining in the jar or tin. Whereas with a cigar, there's a good chance that, if you pitch it, that's it - it's gone, no more.
I'm a fast smoker, whether it's my pipes or a cigar. Very few cigars break an hour for me. The few that do, I usually give up on em at that point because I have something else to be doing.
I pretty much smoke cobs exclusively, got a few briars but they're too much work and all smoke wet n hot. My largest cobs, when I light as im leaving work, will get me another 20 minutes in my chair at home, about 45 minutes on average for a country gentleman. My smallest cobs im done before I get home, around 15-20 minutes.
I pretty much only smoke flake, and only 3 kinds. Ennerdale, DFM, and LNF. I do have one DG briar that does very well with CH, and that's usually a 20 minute smoke. Sometimes I'll load something different in a cob, and not being a regular, I get varied smoking time.
Like others said, there's more than just bowl size to the length of the smoke. Moisture, cut, pack, bowl material, puffing habit, and blend all contribute. Also, not all bowls will smoke all blends. Since I mostly smoke cobs, most of mine are dedicated to a blend they smoke well.
