  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

No, not what cigar you like in the morning.

Due to circumstances beyond my control (I've had a cold), I went from daily smoking to not smoking for 10 days. So what cigar should I break my fast with? Should I work my way back up to the medium-full bodied smokes I was enjoying before, or just jump right back in? Perhaps spend some time exploring the mild realm before I build my tolerance back up, or is there not much of a drop-off after a short fast like this?

Get a good medium med-full one ye enjoy. Then again, 10 days aren't many...get yer favorite to celebrate! Whichever it is!

I don't think you'll have lost your tolerance for nicotine in 10 days. So I say just jump right back in with what you like.

Thanks for the suggestions (except for Chuck - Are you trying to kill me?). I ended up smoking a Tatuaje Hermosos before lunch with Dannysguitar. It sounded like a good idea to me, although I had never had one before (believe it or not). I must say this is one of the most disappointing cigars I have ever smoked. Tasted like someone rolled up some dry tree leaves (oak?). It reminded me of smoking a cigarette and afterwards my hand smelled like a cigarette ash tray. OK, so maybe I'm not ready to smoke yet, but I was feeling well and didn't have any more sinus congestion so I thought I would be OK. I guess I'll wait a few more days before trying another. I wonder if this is how cigars taste to non-smokers and they really just have poor sinuses?

I bet money you would have enjoyed the chisel. Since your tastebuds were a bit fried from the cold the ligero would have got through.

So you weren't joking?

Well today my taste buds are fried from that cigar I smoked. My tongue is ashen colored and I can still taste ashes in my mouth. I've never had a reaction this bad to a cigar. I thought it may have been the cold, but 10 days after I caught it and today's reaction make me think something was wrong with that cigar. It will be a few more days before I can find out as I don't think I'll smoke again until I get this taste out of my mouth.
