Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.
Ok...I was looking at it wrong. I thought that the foot had the excess...my bad but it's a brilliant job and it definately helps out when you want to fix a really damaged cigar!Hmmmm. Paid very close attention when I took the robusto apart and it was wrapped with the outter most leaf at the tip not the foot so seem oposite. Also, if you wrapped the tip to the foot wouldn't it be more prone to unwrap as the burning leaf was holding down the closer leaf rather than the other way around? Anyway, I'll let you know how it works out.
And for storage I know the collector has a walkin that's perfect, I've had it for over a year now and it's been stored properly. Before the collector got it? well I doubt temp control was even availble back in those days for the average person.
It is. The oils from the cigar color the cello.I got a clear havana and the cello is the same color.....guess its the age.
If it's not a 30-40 year old Cuban, I wouldn't bother.Cool project. I've got a beetle-ravaged stick I was about to toss. Maybe I'll try to rewrap it?
Mitch what type of wrapper did you use? I would imagine something "light" would be the best if you did not use a Cuban leaf as a replacement.Trying to resurrect a very old soldier, not sure of exact date, but from what I know about it this Partagas is most likely from the 70s. I got if from a collector that I was working a trade with who gave it to me saying either do something with it or throw it out.
I misted a wrapper of a robusto and gave it a new wrapper so it will draw with all the bug holes. After a week or two Ill see how it goes, just couldnt let leaf that old go without a try. Ill let you all know how it works out.
I went with a Hoyo de Tradicion Honduran-grown viso Rosado wrapper.Mitch what type of wrapper did you use? I would imagine something "light" would be the best if you did not use a Cuban leaf as a replacement.
If you like it and want to attempt more let me know and I should be able to help you find a leaf closer to the original. I have quite a bit of loose leaves from aroller that was here in the summerI went with a Hoyo de Tradicion Honduran-grown viso Rosado wrapper.
Might take you up on that, I've got about a dozen pre embargo's with some holes in them that I usualy just patch, but if this works out well, it may be worth hitting them all this way. What kind of leaf is it?If you like it and want to attempt more let me know and I should be able to help you find a leaf closer to the original. Please keep me in mind for a couple, but lets wait until I can work out a trade with you or something to make the postage worth while.Like I said much closer to the original except only a year old. Other then origin I am not much I can send you a few though.
