Doing laundry yesterday, I realized that I have burned a hole in two of favorite shirts. This more than likely happened while smoking a pipe because I had been wearing during recent smokes. This sucks. How can I prevent it in the future?

Aside from a)smoking over a table, like you're eating soup, or b)wearing some kind of bib or apron, its just a risk that comes with the territory man!
That being said, I can't recall ever burning a hole in any of my clothes from smoking.

I, too, cannot remember burning a hole in my clothing while smoking. However, I have probably half a dozen shirts with mysterious holes (1/8 - 1 inch). All the holes are in the front and all are in the lower third. I do the laundry much of the time, so blaming the wife didn't work at all. Aliens?

Wear an old hoodie. Maybe pack the bowl a little tighter or less full. So the buring baccy doesn't go out and over the rim of bowl.
There is also some pipes that have a cover over the burning chamber(vest pipes? Fishing pipes... ) someone had it on here. Bet that would allow you to smoke in good clothes

I should probably quit smoking at the bar, as those are the only times this has happened. (Yes indeed, smoking is still legal in bars here in Galveston, TX. Only the business owner has the authority to ban smoking. Be jealous.) Dancing, heated debates, and hitting on women are ways for lit baccy to escape from the bowl.
Plus, every time I go, I end up showing off the pipe to someone because they have never seen an actual physical person smoke a tobacco pipe. Several good looking ladies have actually approached me to ask about it. They obviously have me confused with someone much more interesting and attractive... :eyebrow:
Were it legal, I would smoke in my birthday suit. But luckily it's not, sparing the world from an unsettling sight.

In TX I am for sure moving LOL JK. Anyway I have had a few times that I have loaded a pipe to full and after a good light the Tobacco rises and if there is some wind or if I have my Oreck turned up to high or what ever the reason may be I have lost a nice hot amber from the bowl and OMG it is like the end of the world. I am just happy to report that I don't have any burn holes in the carpet or my clothes. That is cause when it hits me it is like the end of the world and I do what I can to make it go out as fast as I can. Last time I thought for sure it would have burned a hole in the carpet because after surgery I wasn't moving all to fast and was like if it burn to flame honey come stomp it out.
