C&D Cellar Series

Guess it's back to the pipe section for me.

Anyhow, anyone tried any of these? 3 blends, made for cellaring, all have Red Virginias and a little to alot of Perique. Plus whatever for each blend. I'm not a huge Perique fan but these have me curious.

I don't know. Was curious and some of you guys will try about anything. Thanx

Funny you should mention this, as I just now (not 10 minutes ago) ordered a tin of the "Chenet's Cake. I'm a big perique fan, and needed $9 to get free shipping, so I figured it's worth a try. If it's tasty now, I'll get a couple more tins to put to bed for a couple years.
I'll let you know in a couple weeks how it is.

I planned on grabbing a few of each myself, try them now and put some down to bed as well!

see, i'm kinda against these? not really hardcore opposed, but it gets up my nose. the idea behind cellaring pipe tobacco (or aging cigars) is generally that they are produced TO BE CONSUMED, but there are times where something shows its potential, and those with the ability and means choose to go out of their way and add time to the equation, to satisfy their own tastes. the choice to cellar is ours, and shouldn't be mandatory.

then again, i thought my tat verite '09s were a waste for the first two years, and then WOW. and pete built that release around the model set by the wine world. and pease is a wine nerd as much as PJ is. if anyone could make this completely worthwhile and prove my suspicions ungrounded, it's him.

which is to say, imma be buying other stuff right now, but looking forward to a review or some feedback from y'all. o)

See I disagree, here's a quote about the cellar series from them “accessible in their youth, but glorious after a reasonable amount of aging.”

That would leave me to believe smoke them now or later you choose. I'm sure that was the premise of using tobaccos that traditionally could go down for long times.
And if your anything like me and bought some it would get aged regardless because I forget I have it/ never get around to it...

yeah, and true. i can just be skeptical of perceived gimmick. and, as i said, if anyone can pull it off, it's pease blending C&D tobaccos.

and, yeah, not even countins sample baggies, i just found a dozen and a half blends at least i have to familiarize myself with. if (or probably when) i pick some up, it will probably be a year before its cracked. first world problems. o)

I just ordered two tins of the Joie De Vivre. I'll probably open one now and put the other away for a little rest in the dark back corner of my cellar.
