BoM August 2010/2011
So I was blown up by a bomb from MP that included a Cain F, which was the main reason why I got the bomb. I had mentioned that I had never had one, but really liked the Habano, so MP fired away (Thanks Mike!). I promised ciggy that I would give a review once I had a chance to smoke it after my trip to NC. So here ya go!
The Cain F is a full flavored robusto (5x50) that has a dark brown, oily wrapper, with a few small veins. The stick is firm to the touch, and has a perfectly round cap. Beautiful looking cigar!
UPDATE (added pic of new 5-pack with banded cigars)
I chose to do a skull cap style of cut, just removing the cap with my Palio. The pre-light draw had a strong cedar flavor, with pepper laced within. The stick lit perfectly, and had a very light white smoke, and a nice white ash. The first third of the smoke was heavy with cedar and pepper, such that you could feel it on the back of the tongue. It was slightly creamy, but that didn't last long. There were subtle flavors of nutmeg and cinnamon on the finish. The burn was pretty even, keeping a tight, white ash, with a couple of small flakes.
The pepper calmed down a little in the second third, but was still there. The cedar flavor still was dominate though, but the finish of showed slight notes of raisin and even dates. The burn would get slightly off line, but always caught up.
Moving into the final third, I could taste the pepper coming back, but not as strong as the first third of the smoke. The raisin and dates I could taste in the middle disappeared, and were replaced by a slight nutty and leathery finish. I wasn't able to take the stick to a nub completely, mainly because my mouth got pretty dry. I don't think it was because of the cigar itself, but due to me flying earlier in the day and the low humidity in the winter.
Overall, this was a very good cigar. It had a very good mix of flavor and spice, but not a strong as I would have expected from word on the cigar. The burn lasted an hour and fifty minutes. I would recommend that you give this stick a try, especially if you like a fuller type of cigar. And not a bad price, as they are $6 per stick.
