  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Thank you for your recent communication. I have taken note of your concerns. I can go further and respond to your letter if you are a constituent in my Senate District.

Please respond with your mailing address. I pay attention to everyone that contacts me, and I will be happy to respond if I am able.

I am sure you can understand that, due to the abundance of emails I receive each day, I can only respond to constituents in my Senate District. If you are unsure in which Senate District you reside, you may find out by visiting http://192.234.213.69/lmapsearch/framepage.asp , and entering your mailing address.

Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Sincerely,

DARRELL STEINBERG

President pro Tempore

6th Senate District

Lovely!!!

You want to screw everybody, but you can't talk to us unless we live in your broke-dick district.

Gotta love it!!

Whats next CRA?

Ok, I sent the my signed copy of the petition to Mr. Steinberg, who is the author of this useless bill, as well as to my elected official. Mr. Steinberg decided to reply to my email and use the "You aren't in my jurisdiction" excuse.

Here is his response and my return to his email.

Here is my response to him....

Mr. Steinberg,

Thank you for your response and I do understand that you are busy. We are all busy in these trying times of economic uncertainty. WIth a State budget that is out of control in spending, the higher costs of education, the threat of higher taxes, the increasing number of people out of work and the issue of illegal aliens of all races taxing the budget by receiving services which they are not entitle to.

As for where I live, I live in the San Fernando Valley. In addition to you receiving my email, I also forwarded my initial E-mail to my elected official. But, this should not matter. You are the author the bill in question, as well as an elected official in California. As an elected official, you have been tasked with adhering to the wishes of all of your constituents, as well as all those in California, solely based on your position within the California Legislature, President Pro Tem of the Senate.

As I am sure you are aware, since you are the author of this bill, you come under more scrutiny in this matter. I urge you to take all opinions into account in this matter, as it truly does efffect many Californians. In these uncertain financial times for so many Californians, why add to that uncertainty. In addition, the law you are proposing not only affects those living within your district, but affects others in all of the districts within California.

Respectfully, let me give you something to ponder. Today, many people are becoming involved in political affairs. People are more aware of what their elected officials are doing and holding them accountable for their actions or lack of actions. Take the election results from last November. To me, it makes no matter if someone if a Democrat, Republican, Independent, or any other political party member. As an elected official, you are tasked with serving the people of the State of California, not pushing an agenda.

I hope this Email gives you some insight. Should you require any other information or need some clarification on any of my points, please feel free to contact me via my E-mail or phone.

Respectfully

Where is the CRA representation on this forum? Poriggity is a CA ambassador and a member of BOTL and another half a dozen cigar related forums, but not one word from him. Other than a petition (File 13 material), what are they doing?
I am just adding my 2 cents. I joined CRA and signed the petition. I found talking to people in local cigar lounges they did not know about this bill or what kind of issues are facing the tobacco industry.

I contacted a couple of store owners who would be willing to host an event discussing the issues, so I sent a message to CRA to see if they had a representative who could speak at such an event. I have sent several additional request to CRA with no response.

I am sure they are doing the best they can, but I am a little disappointed in the lack of response.

Sorry folks, the CRA will not fight all of our battles. As members, we should be the ones helping to fight the fight. By contacting and voicing our disapproval to elected officials, by educating our friends and others, by being involved with forums, CRA ands other groups.

Do not stand by and think someone else is going to fight for you. It is up to you! It's easy to talk the walk, but time to walk the walk and talk the talk. Don't blame Porrigity, What are you going to do to fight this fight. Think about this. If it happens in California, it will happen in other states too!

I am a lifetime member of the CRA. If you aren't a member, why not.

I agree with you Bill. I am not blaming Poriggity . I am just showing the lack of awareness with regards to this issuewithin the ranks of the CRA.
