  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Can I sleep at your house tonight?

Hey brothers- I know I'm a newbie and no one knows me yet, but I need help. My wife has offered to cut off certain very important parts if I don't cut back on my cigar expenditures for a few months. My everyday cigars are Padron 4000 and JdN Celebracion. I know, comparatively cheap, but I like them. Can anyone suggest a cigar somewhat similar that I could buy for about $1.50 each until the budget crunch is over? I don't know if this helps, but here are some of my favorites:

DPG Black
Rocky Patel '92
DPG JJ
Oliva serie O
Oliva serie V (especially the little lonsdale)
5 Vegas original box-pressed and miami
Juan Lopez
Padron '64
Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra
CAO Cameroon
R&J Habano Reserve
Gurkha Regent
I guess anything Nicaraguan with a Sumatran or Corojo wrapper:smile:

Thanks for the advice, guys. Once the budget's back on track, I won't forget you! Dan

Buck and a half is a pretty challenging price point. If you do cbid, I'd suggest the 'new' Nestor Plasencia Cuba Libre. Spice is fairly subtle and burn can be uneven, but quite a bit of flavor considering you can regularly grab them there for under $30/box.

The Cuban Mistakes from CI aren't bad. They are about .87 cents each. And I just picked up some Flor de Oliva bundle of 20 for $28 on Cbid.

the RP vintage seconds and the counterfeit edge sticks can be had on cbid for around 30-35 depending on the size.

You can also get the Gurkha Regents for around 2 bucks a stick on Cbid.

Be careful though cause CBID is a dangerous place!!!!!!

Yep Famous Nic 3000 are great cigars for $2 each with some freebies. Nic 2000 Belicosos are good also.

Yup, especially if you can put some away to age. I also like JR's Genuine Counterfeit Cuban Pre-Embargo 1958 Edicion Limitadas (made by Perdomo) at about $2 a stick, but they only come in boxes of 50. One of my favorite el cheapos is Holt's Herfdogs, which are a real favorite in Holt's smoking lounge these days, at about 60 cents a pop.

For the ultimate in economy, try pipes. It's a different ballgame as far as flavors + experience goes (they do make some pipe blends with cigar tobacco though), but once you get over the initial expense of pipes and accessories ... it's about 25 - 50 cents per smoke.
