  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hope this thread finds everyone doing well!

I recently inherited a humidor from my Uncle who had actually passed away about 2 years ago. The humidor is in great condition but to my surprise when i got home and opened it up there were still cigars in there! Obviously all the humidor devices were bone dry ect but my question is, is there any chance of saving the cigars that were in there for 2+ years? They all look to be in decent shape although very dry. Is there any hope for any of these or should I just burn them in my next camp fire?

Take Care,
Dave

For that amount of time under these conditions, more than likely all oils are gone and you would just be smoking cardboard. Smoke one and find out. They will never be as great as they once were.

Thanks 38-50, I was just about to say that this looked very familiar. Though it sounds like these have been sitting for even longer.

Dave, read that linked thread, but the first step is to put a calibrated hygrometer in there to see where things sit at present. That will go a long way to telling you where things stand and what chances you have.

Thanks for the advice and the link! Greatly appreciated! Hope everyone is having a great week! Either way if the cigars are good or not, I did get a really nice Humidor which is a nice keepsake to have to remember my uncle by!

Take Care,
Dave

Dave, be sure to check the seal on that humi. My first humi was a pass me down like this and it turned out to have a horrible seal. Best of luck.
