  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Anyone ever try a cigar with this green wrapper? I am thinking about buying some just to try them. I hear Camacho and Fuente make some cigars with the Candela. For those of you who have tried these let me know what you think! :ballbounc

It has a very unique taste, kinda like a grassy flavor to me. The only one that I ever tried that I "might" smoke again was a Nat Sherman.

It is definately an aquired taste in my opinion.

Th AF 858 in the candella wrapper are a nice "different" style cigar. They do have a very grassy/vegetable taste to them.

in the dog days of summer i like to have an 8-5-8 candela with a nice glass of slightly sweet iced tea.

they do have a bit of grass to them. i dont find this to be a large problem being that i love the way my grass smells after i mow it. the cigar is so mild anyway that its a very non invasive grass.

...leave it to camacho to make a candela that is medium in body.

My favorite wrapper, without a doubt. There is a tangy sweetness that you just can't get in any other wrapper.

My favorite cigar is one that's not even made anymore. Hoyo de Monterrey' Governor candela. I have a few of these stashed. Arturo Fuente makes some very good ones. Camacho, Don Tomas, Astral, and Indian Tabac all make one. I'm not a fan of the Camacho, but it is well made.

CAO, Hoyo de Monterrey, La Gloria Cubana, and Punch have all made them in the past, but stopped. It's a shame, because they were all fine cigars.

I'd stay away from Iguana and Angry Elf candela cigars though. Not too good if you ask me.

What everybody said. I smoke 'em a few times a year as a change of pace. My usual choice is Fuente, most often the 8-5-8. The wrapper is deliciously sweet, as is the smoke. The flavor is, indeed, mild, but the smell can be a bit acrid, sort of like when people used to burn leaves in the fall.

Try it --- you might like it. Back in the '50's and '60's this was the most popular wrapper in the US, so much so that it was also called American Market Selection or AMS (in addition to claro claro or double claro).
