  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I've been smokin' long enough to not fall for the marketing scam and pay top dollar for a POS! As someone once said those are good enough to light my firecrackers with on the 4th of July... I hope it's good? But CAO hasn't been really good in years IMO...:disappoin

Im not a huge CAO fan either, but have you tried one or are you just repeating what others have said? :boxing: Had and America from RTDA and it was great, but the ones since have not been so greatI thought this was an an interesting stick, just curious if anyone else has seen them or tried them.

That's a great question bro... There comes a time when you fallen for the marketing one to many times and have been uterly disappointed each and every time. When paying top dollar for a stick I expect it to be delicious from beginning to end. The last CAO I fell for was the 2006 thingy that came in it's own coffin and it started nice for about the first inch and WOW if it didn't turn bitter and nasty. My guess is the blend is designed to start of nice to impress the taste testers from Ca magazine since they only smoke about an inch or so? So no I have not tried that particular cigar nor that line, I've been tempted because the marketing is truly seductive to the cigar smoker but I have fought off each and every temptation. This also part of the reason I would rather shop online and not get to crazy in the B & M's if you know what I mean... If you think it's really good LMK I might be willing to try, enjoy bro!

Since there are strong opinions in this thread and no one has tried them, let me throw in my 2 cents.

I have smoked 3 out of the 6 I was given to date. They are inconsistent in taste. They range from a medium to a full body varying through out the cigar. They seem to draw with a lot more smoke then normal. Could be cause none of them seem to be rolled to tight so far.

If you look at Donk's review thread you can get other people's opinions too

I enjoy the America, and, if I'm not mistaken, the first time I smoked it was at the same table with Brad at the BSVegas. Mild-medium smoke, draws well. Nothing distinct or noteworthy, but altogether a pleasant smoke to enjoy. I don't know if I would go for something as long as this "anthem"- it wasn't THAT good...

My experience has been right around bear's. It was on the mild side of medium, pleasant taste, but nothing special. I've had 2 and will probably try more. It's a nice change of pace from Pepins and Anejos for me.

I picked up two a couple weeks ago. They are more of a novelty/conversation piece fr me. I plan to leave them in my humi for some time. Maybe in a few years I'll fire one up.

These remind me an awful lot of the Camacho Liberty, in both what I see and read. Fantastic packaging, but a cigar that was rolled too loose without much flavor. It was a flagship limited edition coffin type release that didn't appear to sell very well at $12+ per stick. I've never been a very big fan of Camacho's stuff however.

On the other hand, I tend to really like CAO cigars. Only problem that I have with them is a lack of availability in my area, and their pricey nature. My understanding is that Perdomo manufactures some of their lines? In which case, if its true, then I'm not surprised with the good experiences I've had.

The L’Anniversaire line had delicious cameroons and the only maduro I've ever really enjoyed. Nicely constructed, box pressed, great smoking, and very flavorful cigars. Albeit not cheap.

If the opportunity arises I'll pick up a 3 pack of these Americas and give them a shot. If nothing else, just to see.
