  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I've got one for you. How do you get the cigar film off of the inside windshield? I've tried ammonia, alcohol and Windex. I’ve used chamois cloths and newspaper. I’m ready to try acetone and sandpaper next!

They sell special MicroFiber towels for windows, you might want to try that. Maybe a light polish also.

If that doesn't work, and your windows ARE NOT TINTED, you might want to try a non-abrasive clay bar. They also sell spray on clay.

www.properautocare.com is pretty much where i got all my stuff from.

When I used to work at a detail shop we used lint free cloths and a plain old window cleaner. Maybe it was the cloth.

Just detailed mine yesterday. After washing the whole car was polished with Optimum Polish/Compound 50/50, then on to Meguiars #80 Glaze, and finally Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant.

Its not as nice out today as yesterday, but I hope to finish up with the interior and put a coat of Natty's Blue Paste Wax on yet for a even deeper shine.

Seriously I don't even worry about polishing/detailing with the beater I drive.
Unless you've got big rust holes, or scratches deep to the metal, you might be suprised how "non-beater" it would look after a good detail.

Yep, I used to detail my 86 Mazda pick up which had some rust. Just worked around it and it still looked a hell of a lot better than before.

Ehhhh...I probably need to wax it because it's been a while. It's not really a beater, per say, but just old to me so therefore I don't care for it as good as I should.

Anyone got any links to some good wax for a white car?

I like the meguiars wax. Works well on my car, but there's probably better stuff out there.
