Cardboard flip top type sliding 5x3's

I've never bought cigars like this before, do I store them "as is" or do I remove the cigars from the cardboard and store them?

I would think (hope) that most of the cigars will be saved for longer term storage/aging while a few cigars will be sacrificed shortly.
