not sure about the holster yet, but i bought a S & W 910S 9mm to start with.
i think a .22 is in the works for the spring.
as far a new york and carry/conceal permits, the state is a county by county basis, Saratoga county is pretty easy going unless you have a violent felony in your past. (or mental illness).

Chances are, the people that end up at the end of your barrel are there because they aren't law abiding which typically isn't the case for CCP holders. :thumbsup:

Not all of California [henceforth referred to as BRK, or Bundes Republik Kalifornia :sarcastic ]. Up here in the North Sac Valley it's not that difficult to get a CCW. Take the class, shoot a qual with each firearm to go on the permit, and apply with the local issuing agency... usually the County SO. Though some municipalities may also issue. Mine fer instance.

As for your holster set up, check out Galco stuff, Its concealable and very comfortable. Its the stuff I carry.

I've talked to some law enforcement on the issue of "Guess the Bad Guy" before.
The way I see it is thusly:
- If I'm drawing, it's probably because I see an immediate need to discharge the weapon, which probably means that by the time the cops get there, somebody's going to be down. If it's not me (*knocks on wood*) then the gun is going to be sitting on a table, unloaded, for the police to arrive. No sense complicating the issue.
- I know that showing up in a situation like that is a nightmare for a cop, but, me, personally ... if I somehow get into some kind of standoff, and the cops show up? I'm laying down the pistol and trying to get thinner than a gum-wrapper on the sidewalk. I pay taxes so I don't have to do that kind of stuff for free. The guy with the gun that is trying to make a face-imprint in the pavement is probably not the guy to aim at.
If a cop puts one in my ass, I may very well have done something under the circumstances to deserve it - I consider it a chance you agree to take when you get your CCW permit in the mail.

Congrats on the CCW. I've had mine for four years here in Michigan. With all of the assholes and psycho's we have here, I sure sit a little higher in my seat now that I know I can protect myself against the freaks around here. Though, I have not had to pull it out yet. Hope I never do. But, if you do plan to pull it out, you better plan on using it.
Also, if you do brandish your weapon, make sure you are the first one to call the federalis. Because, the first one there wins.
