BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Just to further my point from my last post. I ain't too sure how they'd spin me either.

The criminal side of a shooting is one thing, but the civil is another. Here is my advice to everyone, regardless of your state of residnece. Don't shoot people if you can avoid it, if you can't avoid it shout as loud as you can for any potential witnesses to hear that you want them to leave, that you are backing up and that you don't want to shoot.
If you do shoot somebody don't tell the police anything other than where to find and preserve critical evidence like where the scum bag's weapon fell if he had one, let your lawer do the talking. Remember everything you tell them will be used against you during the wrongful death suite filed by the turdbags family. I too would rather be judged by 12 than caried by 6, but shut the hell up and get a lawer.
I took a class way back in the day from a cop that had gone through the wrongful death suite post a justified shooting in his home off duty. Kid had a violent record, family had kicked him out and even filed charges against him for assult previously, but the family still filed a civil suite that got settled with a pay out. Cost the cop about fifty grand before it was all said and done. The cop had one big card stacked against him, he gave a detailed and signed statement to the police that was public record.

i am reading a book titled "everything you need to know about legally carrying a handgun in missour". it is very interesting. the author states that if you do shoot someone in your home, when the police arrive you limit your comments to four things ONLY> 1. he attacked me 2. i will sign a complaint. 3. there's the evidence 4. i need to talk to my lawyer before i say anything else. he is adamant about saying no more than that no matter what the situation.

Not to bring up a seemingly dead thread but.....
A big part of the castle doctrine recently adopted in PA is that the prosecution has to somehow prove you acted unlawfully rather than you have to prove as the defense that you in fact acted in accordance with the law. That way the burden of evidence shifts and as long as you plead the 5th like in the above video you should be legally sound. Plus if you're an NRA member I believe they will also help out in defense of the legal use of a firearm in a shooting.

Just my 2 cents and opinion. I'm a gun owner and support gun laws for public sector. But if you think for 1 second I'm going to loose everything I own and have to take the guilt for the rest of my life of taking someone else life, no way. Will I shoot someone if absolutely necessary in my home! Absolutely if I need to protect my family! But will it be my last option in a blink of an eye moment, hopefully I'll never have to find out. I think all the talk about someone dropping a clip in someone is a little over the top. Maybe its my Northern way, I dont know. But man killing someone else, thats got to be one heavy burden mentally to have hanging around the rest of your life.

Colorado residents are protected by the 'Make My Day' law, where we can essentially shoot anybody who enters our home. Also, if they're committing arson, I think we can shoot them on our property. Not that I want to or intend to, but it sure helps out anybody who is forced to kill an intruder by preventing the homeowner from being charged or sued. Shooting someone would be a last resort for me, and I wouldn't do it unless someone was hurting me or anyone in my home, but it's nice to know you're absolutely protected from criminal or civil prosecution if it does happen.

I know a guy who guarantees that if anyone breaks into his house that person will be found lying in a puddle of his own blood with a gun in his hand. Whether or not he had that gun when he broke in is another question, if you catch my drift...

Problem with that is you need to have either an unregistered handgun or have one that is not registered to you/an acquaintance. I also know someone that kept an airsoft pistol with paint removed in a plastic bag as a drop "weapon". Afterall how are you supposed to know the airsoft is real or not when you have an intruder, right?
