  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

With these new taxes in effect and the competitive pricing from some of our sponsors, in some cases it is now cheaper to buy a box of Habanos than a box of NCs.

Wow, times are a changing in America... I better stop before I start to rant

When has are government used a tax for what it was created for. A small amount will get to the kids the rest will end up being used like all others.

In NC they started the education lottery which is now being used for almost anything but education and they are laying off teachers because they do not have the money! Imagine that

SCHIPS is BS. Now, I'm all for health care for the underinsured. Hell, unlike some people I don't even mind "children" up to 30 being covered under the program - I think all people should have access to healthcare so that's a step in the right direction. But if this is such a good program, it should be funded through federal taxes. And if they are going to choose a "sin" tax for child health care, it should be on junk food. I think our poor diets in this country contribute far more to death and illness than tobacco, and there aren't any age restrictions on mountain dew. Of course, sin taxes are foolish anyway, because they are inherently unsustainable given that they drive down demand.

But back on topic, price isn't what stops me from buying habanos. I frankly don't know enough about what's the best bang-for-buck, I don't like the idea of virtually manditory aging of my stock, I haven't heard great things about consistency of habanos, I'd be concerned about getting caught, and I'm very satisfied with the quality of the NCs I'm smoking so the impetus isn't there.

i don't like my money going for a program that includes "children" above legal adult age.
i don't like my money going for a program that includes illegal aliens.
the money they estimate it will bring in will surely drop with decreased comsumption, so where is that money going to come from?
you can bet that the cost of cc's will also increase, just because it can!!!
it is hard not to be pessimistic.
