A few guys I work with have asked me about this recently and so I thought I would post my answer here. IMHO, for guys with a very limited budget, there are three very inexpensive smokes that I think are quite good and can be had for less than $3 - $4 per stick. I am sure that some of my Habano brothers are cringing.

Puros Indios Especial #4 - I prefer the natural version of this smoke. You can get them for about $38/box from Mike's or about $46 from Famous, both sans shipping costs. If your budget is really tight, get the Roly #4's from Famous for $20. These are Especial #4 Seconds that come bundled.

La Gloria Cubana Wavell - I would recommend the Maduro only for this cigar and prefer the Dominican to the Miami made sticks. They usually run about $65/box from most vendors, sans shipping. You can also get these in a second. Look for El Credito Robustos.

Padron, the regular line. To my knowledge, Padron does not allow seconds on the market. However, their regular line is quite excellent. I prefer the Churchill in a natural wrapper. These can be had for $84, plus shipping.

I am sure that there are many others, but I have found these to be good cigars and consistent.

A great $3 cigar that we found at work is the Punch Rare Corojo. We bought a box of the Roth's for $2.85 each. This cigar could easily sell for double!

I agree Fox, Puros Indios and Padron are nice cigars, especially aged.

One of my favorite NC are La Aroma de Cuba, especially the corona minor. They too, can be found for under four dollars.

I get a lot of flak for this, but here are my top three inexpensive cigars:

1. Flor de Oliva - $2 (or less) a stick, great flavor! Nat. or Mad., they're both great tasting.

2. Helix Maduro - $3 or so a stick, awesome flavor. Not strong, but very tasty and they burn great.

3. Cusano P1 Maduro - $2+ a stick, great flavor, won't break the budget.

I personally like the Padron 2000 Maduro and the Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 for the money. I got 2 boxes of these on a website for just shy of $3 per stick.

I really like those. Regular Padrons are great too.
