Exactly. If you have a small bit of woodworking/shop skills, it wouldn't be that tough to modify the trays IMO.

Nice! Just remember that a lot of those cheapie trays on amazon are made in China and are loaded with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) . Not a good idea to lock those up with your smokes in a sealed environment. Look up lumber liquidators recent problems with wood stock from China. If you know your getting real Spanish cedar trays, it's a great idea. If your getting crap from China, I would seriously think twice about it.
