Churchwarden Question

Last night, I was on my porch watching the neighbors work and had 3-nuns (and I aint even catholic) in my Boswell's Churchwarden. I am not wild about churchwardens but was too tired to hold my arm up to smoke a short pipe. I always get 10 times more gurgles with the churchwarden than any other pipe, why? I had to clean it out at least 10 times just to get through the bowl. I am about to see if JM can make a short stem for it and forget about the long stem. I was not overly impressed with the nuns, it wasnt too bad, had some bite and was hard to keep lit, but then it was a brand new tin and wasnt opened before last night and I just got it in the mail. Maybe that is the reason.... :dunno:

Any chance you're smoking it hotter without noticing it because the longer stem is cooling the smoke before it gets to you?

not that I noticed. i usually just puff and TRY to relax... Thats what I was thinkin, it the stem length...

I'm gonna try a church warden stem for one of my cobs out of curiosity never smoked one but find them visually appealing

For the record I've never smoked a churchwarden. I just threw out a possibility.

I have 2, but changed the one to a regular stem, gurgles was the problem with it also. This one didnt do it before, that i can remember, but it was loaded last night. may have been the nuns. i will give it another try this weekend with something else.

Yes it was outside on the porch, but it was a warm evening. I tried some nuns this morning in my stubby nose warmer and got gurgles twice. Now I'm thinkin it's the baccy. I just got this can Monday and opened it last night. No dry time, open and light.
