the beer post I did from earlier got me thing about this pairing as well. What wine do you like to drink with your sticks?

I tend to like Syrah's with my sticks. How about you. You can even name brands if you want.

Never really cared to mix wine with cigars. I did drink the occasional port with a nice stick, but mostly preferred iced tea or just plain water. Bourbon, rum or scotch were also occasional combos.

Syrah is one of my favorite wine varietals though - along with Zinfandel, Mourvedre, and Cabernet.

I am a red man myself...Clos De Bois (spelling?), yellow tail, and of coarse boones farm;) JK

I like a good shiraz with a spicy meaty cigar. For some reason it always tastes really good with a larger ring gauge and a lot of time to smoke and relax!

Most of the cigars I like to smoke tend to overpower most wines I like, but sometimes I do like to pair them. I agree on Syrah - I like K Vintners a lot (but I'm open to other suggestions!). I'll even drink sauvignon blanc or this one grenache blanc blend (the name escapes me at the moment) with a candela (usually Camacho)... maybe that's a little unusual but it works for me. I'll drink cabernet with a cigar on occasion too. I really like Pedemonte Cellars cab. I generally avoid smoking maduros with wine.

As with cigars, I am always open to hearing about wineries that are new to me, so please post up or even PM if you've got recommendations!

So I know most of you will think this is crazy...but try it atleast once. I am a travel channel and food network junkie and my favorite show on tc is No Reservation. When Tony was in Brazil he came across a street vendor who gave him room temp red wine (think it was Shiraz or Merlot) with Coca Cola mixed in. Half of each in one glass...at first he was turned off but after trying it said that it was actually good! So being bored out of my mind that day...I went and picked up a bottle of both and tried it at dinner. I actually really liked it! Great taste to it...mind you I used cheap red just incase it sucked and did not want to hate myself for wasting a good glass of wine. Since then I have it everyonce and a while and it tends to go good with a cigar! Try it out and let me know what you think! Sorry to thread jack...but I am bored once again:) Nick

Port, either ruby or tawny, or Cream Sherry are favs with a cigar for me. Next to a Scotch or an Irish Whiskey :innocent:

Syrah or Pino. Sometimes a merlot, but something robust.

Never a white, but probably because I don't drink whites anyway.

Usually a cab, pinot noir, zin, or syrah. I've read that wine isn't a good pairing with cigars, but I just enjoy drinking wine too dang much. If I'm not drinking wine with my cigar, I'm drinking Crown.

People get pissy about wine/cigar pairings because Joe Blow can't handle a REAL full bodied cigar. With that said, I love to smoke cigars and drink wine. I prefer cabs and pinot's

Pedro Ximenez is hands down the best for pairing with cigars. I also enjoy Port(tawny, vintage, and garrafeira), Madeira, and occasionally a recioto della valpolicella, in certain situations.
