  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I've thought about it, but have yet to pull the trigger. I find the samplers from the brothers here tend to be driven by thier likes and not business purposes. .02

I sort of do my own, informal cigar of the month (or week). I try to mix something new into my rotation, either by buying a single or smoking a stick that someone gave me, at least once a week.

That would be good, however I don't have too much time to get my local shops to look at what is new, and when I do I am a creature of habit, I will usu go for the same thing over and over and only get a new stick every so often.

I did cigar of the month with CI for a year.

Upside
It was fun.
I got to try many cigars
It seemed cost effective.

Downside
CI acquires many brands for bulk sales that are (ahem) less than stellar.
About 30% of the cigars I received, I had already tried.

If I was going to do it again I would find a site that did fivers and try a different fiver every month based on recomendations. In fact, that is pretty much what I do now except its boxes. :innocent:

I did the Cigar of the Month with cigar.com for about 2 years. It was great when I was a newbie, because I got to try a lot of different brands that I wouldn’t have gone out to buy for myself. Then their selection got a little redundant from month to month and I wasn’t happy with the brands I was getting. I would recommend it to someone just starting out.

It would be nice if there was a version of it that sent you something not so common or something that just got released so you can try it.

CI has some good cigars but sometimes they get stuff that the makers no longer produce, or just have too much of, or whatever. They seem to repeat a lot in their samplers so its not too surprising that the cigar a month is kinda like that. More variety than JRs though (do they even have a cigar a month thing?)
