  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

A couple of friends and I decided to split a sampler. After receiving the order from CI, I split their portions (5 different cigars) into two bags and threw in a few extra cigars into one and a separate bag of pipe tobacco for the other guy. I shipped it out the next day at a UPS store. Not all the sticks arrived, they only received 3 different cigars from the sampler and the extras I included. I'm pretty sure the guy at the store took them out. I'll be going in tomorrow and talking to a manager...I'm so mad right now. Got the phone call from my buddy asking if I changed the split or something...I double checked my humidor just to be sure. :timebomb:

That blows! Yea, go yell at the UPS Manager and demand full MSRP (plus tax!!) payment for the sticks that were stolen. Your shipping insurance will more than cover it.

Never heard that one before. Had a package lost, but never had it opened by the packing company.

Reminds me of a story I read on another site. A couple was flying back from Napa, bringing 2 boxes of mixed wine they had purchased. They were sealed in approved cardboard + Styrofoam cases and checked with the rest of the luggage. On picking up their luggage, they noticed the TSA inspection stickers on the wine boxes but thought nothing of it. When they arrived home and unpacked, they found 3 bottles were missing.

I had a bad feeling dropping the package off...something didn't feel right. I also shipped via USPS at the store, it was significantly cheaper than the UPS quote. So no insurance, but then its a federal offense tampering with the mail? But according to the postage listed on the package, I was way overcharged as well. It should be an interesting talk with the manager.

That is intersting, cause when I first got started on BOTL I tried having FedEx pack and ship a package of cigars. They said they couldn't unless I was a wholesaler or retailer. So I never bothered to try again. I guess for the same reason that happened to you is the reason I have never tried again. If you have them do it then they know what you are shipping. And let me tell you this, you probably aren't the first person that has happened too. That is why I pack and ship all my stuff Priority USPS with DCN. I don't care how big the box is.

Donk always pack up your own shit! Would you bring in an expensive watch and have some 2 bit kid package it up for shipment? I wouldn't trust any of those fuckers to handle anything that I was shipping. As far as your package goes keenween, if I'm not mistaken it should automatically be covered for up to $150 in contents. There is a problem it was not damaged in shipment. It will be what you can prove! Your word against his word. When speaking with the manager if he is not being very helpful tell him you're going to have to file a police report, but even that might be useless unless you're willing to back it up with an attorney. I don't know but this situation sucks I would have your friend take pics of the package but have him damage it and say the sticks were damaged in shipment then you can claim the damage clause.
