My grandmother has told me that one of her pet peeves was that her grinder was often fouling up with a 'gummy' substance. She has used Peets and Starbucks in the past, but she doesn't have the problem anymore now that's she's exclusively been using Black Dog coffee.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I find my Mom's coffee from Sam's club gets all over my grinder when I open it. The black dog does not....

The oily beans will do that. There are some products on the market that can be used to clean the grinder (Grindz is one) but I just use Uncle Bens Minute Rice. Grind a batch of that and it will absorb the gunk. You'll then need to blow/brush out the white powder before using the grinder for coffee.
