Composite ratings on 379 brands and 1,320 cigars from every cigar magazine we could find!

Los Angeles, January 13 – According to the 2007 edition of our Perelman’s Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars, there are 1,074 brands of handmade cigars currently on the U.S. market. We also list 33 brands of Cuban cigars currently in production in our Perelman’s Pocket Cyclopedia of Havana Cigars. So which graded out best in 2006?
Rather than just giving you our opinion, we compiled ratings from a bunch of cigar publications – both for the trade and for consumers – in the U.S. and Europe, homogenized the scores into a ten-point scale and then averaged them out to see which cigars fared best – statistically – in 2006.
All together, we found 1,320 ratings of 379 brands from all around the world. Some were considered only once among all the publications we reviewed, but did well, like the Dominican version of La Flor de Ynclan, which earned a 9.5 in its only review, in the Fall issue of Smoke magazine.
A total of 66 brands earned average scores in our “composite” ratings of 9.00 or better and of these, we looked to see which did best that had at least three reviews during the year.
