  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I have a Citibank card. I think it's a 1 point for every $1. Good reward system, IMO.

Citibank and Chase... gas, supermarkets and drug stores are 5%, 1% everything else.

I like citi's online banking more but they also cap how much $$ in rewards you can get in a year... I forget what the amount is.

Chase offers almost anting you want Tom for rewards thats for sure. A lot will depend whether you pay your balance off EVERY month or carry a balance. If the card give you rewards, you may pay a much higher fee vs. a card with no frills but lower APR. With rates going up, keep a keen eye on the APR. Honestly, this should weight more than the rewards side of it.

I started my main card from Shell Gas Citibank (now is a Chase card). The plan pays back 3% for gas and 1% all else now. I average $250 bucks they pay me per year. I always pay the balance in full. Only 1 time I did not and hated seeing the interest kick in the next month.

I use a Chase and citibank card for 5% on gas/supermarket/drug store 1% on everything else. My starwood amex gets me 1.25 miles per dollar on almost any ff program.
I have a Pentagon Federal Credit Union card that gives 1.25% and only a 1% foreign transaction fee (good for certain purchases)
I use my own amex business card for 5% on marriot/hertz/fedex.
Costco amex gets me 2% on travel and 3% at restuarants.
I have a few other cards that i signed up for the mile/gift card bonuses.
I have around 30K-60k miles in almost every domestic ff program.

There's a lot of free money out there for the taking.

PS. I have never carried a balance, as that will pretty much negate any reward you might receive.
It takes some serious discipline, but it's worth it when at the end of the year all my rewards cash goes towards a vacation and cigars!

All good advice. I use Citi Advantage AA. Even used it to pay the kids tuition. Free trip to Hawaii but ALWAYS pay it off.

Never spend more than you have and it is easy...this is how we do it as well...never pay any finance charges.
