Traveling to Cuba legally via the U.S. and wanted to know if you can use a visa or MasterCard from America at the Cass del Hababos. I know everything is pretty much cash but didn't know what the shops might do.
Cuba will take your US dollars or your credit card, no worries, just remember e X change rate you get on a credit card is favorabl for you in most countries, except Europe.
Just be aware though, the connection can be spotty there so be sure to have some kind of backup plan. Last year when I was there the cc system was offline a few times I went to buy sticks. Wasn't a big deal but if I'd left it until the last minute I would have been rooked
Thanks guys. I'll be bringing cash but wanted to see even if there was a chance to free up cash whenever possible. I know I'll get the ten percent exchange on the card which is no problem if I can get to hold on to any cash that would be cool.
They job you for the 10% exchange on USD as well when converting it to Cuban Convertible Pesos (CUC) which at least in my experience was the only cash they accepted. That was as of last Feb though, not sure what effect the new developments may have had on that.
