Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.
Give it another go before writing it off as awful, I think they're pretty great. Maybe let one rest a bit. It's amazing how different peoples palates are. I smoked a j.d.howard yesterday for the first time and I thought it was absolutely awful. I do like the Headley's on occasion though.

No he's right all Crowned Heads are gross terrible cigars. All Botl should immediately send all your Crowned Heads to me for proper disposal.Give it another go before writing it off as awful, I think they're pretty great. I will answer my own question, there is no way that was normal or nobody would ever smoke them. Finally jot a JD, haven't tried it yet but have a question.
Smoking my first HG drumstick right now, actually my first lancero size ever.
Is a tight draw typical with these tiny ring g's?
I'm on the last third now and it's still just as tight.
Yeah, I don't know how to roll cigars but I would imagine that lanceros would be a little more tricky to get right. The thing I've discovered about lanceros, is that you have to feel them to see if they have a little "give" in them. If they are relatively hard (or harder) between your thumb and forefinger then they are not ready to smoke.
Just this past Saturday at our Minnesota herf, the B&M proprietor went through the Oliva Cain lanceros with me, opened up each tube and felt each stick to see if there was one that he thought was "ready". It wasn't until the last stick he felt that he said "this is a contender". He said: "it's still a little firm, and you might fight it (the draw) for the first half inch or so but it'll be good after that."
That's my little "newb" take on it now.
Just tried a JDH 46 today. Really tasty stick, impressive. Did get a bit rough on the last 2"...anyone else have this happen?
Wondering if maybe these need some age to sooth the back end roughness.
