We took an Alaskan cruise last summer on NCL. No issues smoking on our state room balcony. They also had a pretty good cigar lounge.

They also had cigars in their store

Smoked on the deck balcony once without issue. It was pretty barren at the time though.

Hook us up!

I'm about to book a 10 day cruise on the Island Princess for a 10 day trip over New Year's Eve. Do you have any experience with that boat?
PM sent....Princess is a good Cruiseline and I have cruised on about 3/4 of their ships. We doing a Transatlantic Cruise Nov. 4 on the Grand...it just a had a complete overhaul and it's in fantastic shape. We fly to London and we'll stay there for 4 nights and see Paris/London and then get on the ship in Southampton..go to Brussels....Le Havre...Vigo...Lisbon....Ponta Delgada, Azores...Bermuda and back to Ft. Lauderdale. Can't wait to smoke myself silly for the entire cruise.

According to my wife who loves cruises and spends time on cruise forums, Princess is going to ban smoking on balconies very soon. As a consolation, they will be providing more designated smoking areas on ships. Another one bites the dust.

Just got back from NCL cruise. Nice cigar lounge, no problem smoking on room balcony and no problem smoking on deck in designated smoking areas. Only downside was Casino allowed cigarettes only....

According to USA Today:

Princess Cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines and Holland America all announced major changes to their smoking policies. Smokers will soon be banned from lighting up in cabins on all the ships of all three lines.

The Princess smoking ban, which also applies to cabin balconies, will become effective on all sailings departing after Jan. 15. ( This is distressing because I choose Balcony Cabins just so I can have a cigar...mutherscruncher!!! ) :tongueout

Carnival said its ban on smoking in all cabins would take effect Dec. 1. The line will still allow both cigarette and cigar smoking on cabin balconies.

Holland America said its ban on smoking in cabins, but not on balconies, would take effect on Jan. 15.
