  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Wouldn't you like to know?
I am a sure how much of an impression I have made here but I am a rare cigar whore. Today I had to make the worst descision in a long time. To send rare cigars away. I had arranged to pick up the rare opus's from Casey. There was a notice on the door that they showed up today, but with a problem, I found the evil customs agent. Now being from Canada I am quite used to taxes and don't begrudge paying it when I have to. This was out of control now I thought that the taxes in alberta were supposed to max out at $10 a stick. I had to pay a little more then that when I got some from Jim but not much more. Well today the taxes were $496 for 6 cigars. That is bullshit the cigars I have been more excited about then any other in perhaps as long as I have smoked and I had to refuse the shipment and send them back to Casey to try again at a later date. I would not have complained at less then $200 but couldn't choke back the $500. So today I have another favour to ask, anyone that has anything headed my way that is not yet in the mail please hold onto it and PM me so we can figure out a way to get things in.

That all said I am making it up to myself by smoking an Opus A first today. I doubt it will be my last of the day as I need a lot of comforting.

That really does suck. I live a lot further south then most (but still in the States), if I can help in any way, I would be more than happy to.

so were they marked as cigars, or were they opened by customs??

at least they were able to be returned and not smashed and destroyed as i have experienced in the past.

Frickin socialism, man that's horrible!

Tell us what to do about the birthday club! Would it help if I sent something else with it? Wrapped them in wrapping paper? Obviously you DON'T put cigars on the customs form.

I know the problem! I packed them in an empty anejo box and they saw that and levied tax on a whole box of cigars! As soon as I get these back we'll work it out. If I have to ship them one at a time you will get your rare opi (plural of opus?)!!!!
