Ever think about running for a government position? Well...there is a City Council position in the beautiful City of Detroit! The only catch...beat out the candidates that are in the running. Here are the findings from 167 candidate's background checks:

-19 of the candidates owe a combined amount of $2.4M in unpaid income and property taxes
-1/7 of the candidates have filed for bankruptcy
-12 lost their homes to a bank
-1 person served 81 months for racketeering related to prostitution
-1 person was convicted of second degree murder

And this is not including the several others who had "blemished" on their resumes...ooops...did I say I graduated from college...I meant high school...

Seriously WTF? There need to be some GD changes around here and I cannot wait till this crap turns around. Don't get me wrong...Detroit is a great place with a bad wrap because of a small percentage of idiots with higher power than they should have ever made it to. I just had to share this because I could not believe that these people even applied. Hopefully people will vote with the facts and pick some good people to really help turn this city around! Downtown is amazing...now we just need to expand that and turn this place into a destination!

Wow, now that was interesting. I've never been nor seen Detroit. Only thing i've heard of them was a song going "Put your hands up for Detroit"

I was there several years ago, in January and froze my arse off, but I really enjoyed myself downtown....and would go back again!

Awesome! And that is what we need! Like I said...downtown is awesome with the new stadiums, casino, great bars, and great places to eat! We just need to figure out who needs to be driving this ship

I grew up on the West side in the 60's and 70's.....it was a lot nicer then than it is now.

My dad did the same. I still hear about riding his bike miles through detroit to make it to the boblo boat. he took us down there a couple summers ago...sad to see what happened to that area...

Yeah, my Dad and I drove through the old neighborhood a couple summers ago as well. More houses boarded up than inhabited, alleys impassable, full of abandoned cars and overgrown with brush, just heartbreaking.

Native here, left 10 years ago. When the majority of voters are not as ignorant, greedy and useless as the elected officials, change will happen.
