  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This 6x52 slightly box pressed stick offers a dark tan wrapper with a slight red hue, oily sheen, a velvet texture, minimal veins, tight seams and a soft woody aroma. First light reveals a very loose draw, great smoke production and mild-medium soft woody flavors with a clean finish. The first third develops to a soft mild creamy leather with a touch of sweetness and a very airy quality to the smoke. Definitely a lightweight on flavor and power, great for the morning. 30 min in the 2nd third starts with the same flavors, still remaining mild and very consistant. 1 hour at the start of the last third flavors transition a bit, dropping the leather for a creamy nut. Ending at 1:15 the reminder was the same, always with a great burn and draw.

Was gifted one of these and I enjoyed it as well. Thanks for the review!

I don't believe these are box pressed at all... Your stick might have been one from the sampler 10 packs from the trade show, as those had a slight distortion.

These all have flat sides, they are slightly box pressed.

Don't know what to tell ya...I got in 5 and they were all all pressed. Just calling it like I see it! I have no idea if they are special or it's new or specific to a size or a run/event etc. - but mine are pressed, plain and simple.

Have you compared to a full box of toros? Just trying to get the right information out there is all. Your 5 might be pressed slightly, and maybe they came from a event pack like Danilo stated, would seem odd that the boxes I saw weren't pressed and these are.

They came directly from JC Newman, I review what is presented. They did not mention they were in any way special. No I have not compared to a box.

I certainly appreciate efforts to get the right info out, I can relate to that for sure! I have sent an email to my contact asking about it.

And have received mixed reviews at best! smoking stogie gave this an 81, and the double corona is not box pressed either!

Great review as always Bryan!
Just a note, I did that review on a prerelease JC before it was reblended (they had to destroy like 20,000 cigars)...I have some of the new blend, but have not done a rereview as of yet (it is on my list :)
