  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Do you have a vitola/size that you naturally gravitate to?

When you are trying a line that you've not tried before, do you have a particular size that you naturally gravitate to?

For instance, I am not overly inclined to try a lancero unless someone specifically tells me..."you gotta try the lancero." I would typically pick up either a robusto or a belicoso/torpedo.

How about you?

I like lanceros if I have the time to smoke one. Otherwise a PC is fine, but I will smoke whatever looks good. Big huge ring gauges though aren't always my preference. Anything that barely fits in my palio to cut it is too big.

I like the petitte corona, panatella, and Lancero. In general I do not like fat ring gagues, with the exception of Belicoso, or torpedos, that have a smaller head. I will smoke the rest if I have them, but I generay buy the tapered smokes or smaller smokes.

Lonsdales and corona gordas. Smaller ring gauges have better flavor (as long as the wrapper doesn't suck).

I think the recent lancero kick is odd. Not sure where it started, and I'm not sure why people aren't making/smoking lonsdales instead.

I prefer Robustos in general, as to mouth feel, smoke volume, taste and as to the amount of smoking time. Larger gauge smokes remind me too much of something else (no, I don't do that) and longer smokes are too mild until their strength increases.

i have found that the robusto or a torpedo is what i like to try first, but once i find out what that i like a particular line, i gravitate towards the corona gorda, as long as it's a normal cg, not like the 6x60 cg from coronado by la flor, and i also gravitate towards the lanceros and panatela.

If, I'm trying a cigar for the first time I shoot for the CG. On the other hand my favorite sizes are A's, CGs, and Lanceros.

for first time smokes I go for Robustos or Coronas, once I know I liek the line I will smoke them all depending on my time frame.
