  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Don't touch the head...WTF!

OK La Buzz....It's like this. Hundreds of hand have touched that cigar before that someone in your B&M touched that cigar you won't buy because that someONE just touched it. Sorry, but that's a cold hard fact.

Your drink analogy is a very bad one. That glass the bartender grabbed by the top was washed and sanatized before he grabbed it by the top part of the glass. I can understand your objection to the bartender doing this as you expect a clean glass. That cigar you are smoking has never been washed nor sanatized before you smoked it. If you expect a washed or sanitized cigar before you smoke it, you are living in a false reality. But if this helps you get over the fact that hundreds have touched your cigar before you smoke it, then don't let me stand in your way. Out of sight, out of mind, huh?
exactly right... out of sight and out of mind. cigar rollers wash their hands at the start of their shift, so that doesn't bother me. Maybe that is a fairy tale that I like to tell myself but it works.

Respect is what it's all about. Put yourself in a germ-a-phobe's shoes. You might not be a germ-a-phobe... but someone at your local cigar shop could be. The thing is that we know we're a little crazy... but we can't control it. But you definitely have control over how you handle a cigar. :tiphat:

anyways... with that said can we talk about something that will put me in a good mood? like how great tatuajes are? start one of those threads and we'll love you here

That is why all the cigar reviewers come up with all these different tastes of earth, leather, nuttiness, grassy meaty undertones etc..

It's coming from the head!!

Ahhh,,,the last touch debate on my beloved cigars. Both sides are true and it's about what one will or can live with. Like one brother put it if I'm at a B&M and see somebody fondling the cigar I have an interest in...he may have just come out of the mens room, or just sneezed violently into both hands a minute before without wiping them off. He may even be carrying some other type of bacteria on his hands so the notion of trying to get patrons to at least show some kind of care and concern for others is not without merit. I usually when shopping for cigars at B&M's will try to grab a cigar that is buried way back and underneath all of the others and inspect it but know that I'm probably not alone when it comes to doing this. So, where is the line in the sand? I use the 1 minute rule that says if nobody else has touched them in the last minute I've been standing there then the Cigar Gods have ensured that all bacteria is gone and said cigar is ready for purchase. That being said I still believe in the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus.

You hit it on the head with this one (no pun intended.) As a germ-o-phobe I have to tell myself these little stories to keep my sanity. Hey, you never know... maybe there really are cigar gods up there watching over us.
