Size: Corona Gorda 5 5/8 x 46
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Conn Shade
Binder: San Andreas / Mexico
Filler: DR + Nicaragua
Note: Although DE makes many flavored / infused cigars, this one is all natural.

I had a chance to smoke my (free!) sampler of the Magnum 46 today and wanted to share. This is a good looking cigar - the wrapper is a light brown color with only a few veins. Solid roll but not really firm. The draw was easy and the cigar produced a ton of thick smoke. There was not much complexity to the flavors - mostly creamy, cedary tobacco with some sweetness throughout and occasional hints of chocolate during the last third. The finish was short and a bit on the dry side. The burn was fairly even, but I found the ash did not hold more than an inch or so before dropping off. I'd put this in the mild strength / mild-medium bodied + flavor category.

Overall a pleasant smoke - but more suited to early in the day. I think these would be good for times when you are doing other things (golf, reading the morning paper, playing cards, etc.) where you don't have to pay attention to the cigar to catch the flavors. I've seen these at around $4.00 - 4.50 / ea by the box - which is a decent value for this size.

nice review. i always stayed away from them as i thought they were infused, too.
I told you to take one when the pass was at your house. They are really good cigars. Plus didn't I give you one to try? If not I'll bring you one to try out. They are good smokes. For a mid day quick smoke.

I'm definitely interested in them, even if they are a mild smoke...seems to be a product that was brought to market by the recommendation of Drew's new hired gun, Steve Saka. It's certainly nothing like any other cigar they created before his addition to the staff.

I like the La Veiha Habana by Drew Estates, I was buying them when they were 1.80 a piece and still have 2 in my humidor from last year. They are super great for the price. I might have to pick up a couple of these as well.

Thanks for writing this up!

BTW, I'm pretty sure that Sheep has turned his nose up at the Drew Estates LVH when I was buying them at the B&M and bringing them to the herfs. LOL

My biggest problem with the LVH was that I kept getting bits of tobacco in my mouth and on my tongue, and that pissed me off. LOL

That's what is appealing about these Chateau Real; they're made with LONG FILLER instead of the short filler floor sweeping that make up the LVH.

Yea the LVH's are ok for what they are, cheap short filler. I have gotten them before and would buy them again, but would not pay more than $2 a stick.

I tried my first Chateau Real (Maduro) the other day. The sweetness of the maduro wrapper was overpowering. The flavor of the smoke wasn't strong enough when paired with the wrapper, it was like sucking air through a rolled-up Hershey bar. After smoking half of it, I decided that was enough -- it wasn't awful, but wasn't enjoyable either.
