  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hey all, I was looking at the amount of data my apps were taking up on my phone, and noticed my Facebook app was using 15+MB storage. A quick search on the web (for something else actually) brought me across a trick to clear up a significant amount of memory.

I simply logged out on my FB app and logged back in, and the memory went from 15+MB to 4.4MB. Just thought I'd pass this little tidbit on. Will post up more if I come across more little tricks!

I guess Droid is good with memory and I click the advanced task Killer app seems to do the trick. (Funny just looked and don't even see a logout on FB).

Update, found it finally and will log back in....

I have the adv task killer also, but this only shuts down apps that are running. I've been getting the "low space" notification lately and finally went to open my txt messages and it said "memory full". I did that with the FB app and made a huge difference. Then when I went into manage apps (menu > applications > manage applications) I saw how much memory some huge apps are using. Top three were contacts storage, Facebook, and com.htc.socialnetwork.prov. I did the aforestated with FB and, after finding that it's essentially only linked to FB info, deleted the data on the com.htc.socialnetwork.prov. I have read mixed guidance on deleting data for contacts storage, some saying it makes no difference (other than custom profile pics and ringtones) and others said it totally messed up their contacts. So, I haven't messed with it. By deleting FB and com.htc.socialnetwork.prov I now have 40MB of free space.
