  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr., racing together as teammates -- it's a powerhouse combination of megawatt marketability that will become reality at Hendrick Motorsports next year.
Earnhardt has scheduled an 11 a.m. ET news conference at his JR Motorsports shop in Mooresville, N.C., during which he will announce his plans for next season, according to a team spokesman. Sources have indicated to NASCAR.COM that those plans center on Hendrick Motorsports, the most successful organization in Nextel Cup this season, with 10 race victories in 14 starts.

Sources also told NASCAR.COM that Earnhardt will replace Kyle Busch, who will not be in Hendrick's No. 5 car next season. A Hendrick spokesman declined to comment, while a JR Motorsports spokesman would confirm only that Wednesday's announcement concerned Earnhardt's plans for 2008 and beyond. Earnhardt has been looking for a new ride since he announced his plans to split from Dale Earnhardt Inc when his contract expires at the end of this season.
Hendrick, with six total championships on NASCAR's premier series, fits with Earnhardt's desires to drive for a contender and to continue to pilot Chevrolets. The Hendrick team also had ties to Earnhardt's late father, who shook down the first car the organization ever built, and was behind the wheel when team owner Rick Hendrick recorded his first NASCAR victory in a Busch race at Charlotte in 1983.

It's kinda funny that Kyle is odd-man out now. I bet he'll go to DEI. Hindsight is 20/20, but I bet he would have acted a whole lot differently earlier in the season if he knew he might be replaced.

It's official.

Dale Jr is racing for Hendrick next year.

I am watching the end of the conference on NASCAR.com...I missed if they mentioned what Kyle Busch's future is or what car number Dale will be driving.

This is very early in a season for a driver to announce a new team. I thought Kurt Busch's announcement a couple years ago was early but dang, the season is barely past 1/3 of the way through...that is VERY earlier.

Now he basically races the rest of the season for two owners.

From all I read this last week, Hendricks seemed like the best and almost only option for Jr. Congrats to him.

Hendrick released Kyle Busch for the 2008 season that he is under contract for. So Kyle as of today is a lame duck driver. He better clean up his act on and off the track. I would imagine DEI would be a front runner for him. Nice trade up for Hendricks if you ask me.

Kyle is a one man wrecking and hard driving machine. I am sure Theresa will give his nuts a good squeeze and talking to early on and make those two get along. I am more curious how Gordon and Johnson will be dealing with Jr. next year when he gets on board fully. It is business for the most part off the track. On the track, one less enemy for the Hendricks crew and one more enemy in Kyle I guess.
