  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Anyone try the Illusione eccj 15th yet?
I was just made aware of them today while drooling over newhavanacigars' selection... I am a BIG fan of Dion, Pete & Pepin... So I impulsively pulled the trigger on two 5ers.
If I like them, maybe I'll have to get a box - there are only 300 of them.

If you want a box you better hurry and order it. They'll sell out quickly.

They're a decent stick. I see them as kindof a "starters" Illusione. I say that because it tastes like an Illusione with less body and frankly a little less flavor. It's a lighter version of the MK.

i've likened them to a dried cigar. A very good one though. THey've definitley got flavor and i would call it med-to full bodied. But to me, it had a drieness to it. Maybe that's the "European" style in which they say they are made. I don't know, but for me, it lacked the fullness and depth, adn liveliness even, that an"American" style cigar would have.

I liked it, but probably wouldn't buy a box of them.

Whne i was up at NHC last week, Dan had about 5 boxes in stock and opened one of them to let me try the ECCJ. From what i've read though, i believe there is going to be a second release, meaning only 150 of the 300 boxes amde were sent out. I could very well be mistaken on that though.

Okay... I ordered them on Thursday afternoon & had them by Saturday - fed ex ground.
Vacume packed, humi-pack & perfect, all ten.

I smoked one tonight.

The easiest to compare with is the Cg:4 - same size & appearance.
I shaved off the tip of the cap, no pealing, perfect draw - well constructed.

Pre-light draw tasted a bit sweet with a bit of white chocolate.
Lit up & burned nicely - a little uneven occasionally, but didn't require any touch ups - fixed itself.

Taste - was wonderfull: where the reg line has notes of (imo) chocolate pudding cake with a bit of clove - the ECCJ had a white-chocolate cake with a bit of vanilla & (as yet unidentifiable floral taste).
This can get a little bitter if I got a little anxious & started smoking too quickly (similar to some of the Graycliff). But given 30 seconds, back to dessert-like flavors in spades.

No, it's not as 'strong' as the CG:4, but it's not weak by any definition. Full flavored, medium complexity, mid to full bodied? (pleasant sting when passed though nose)

I'm thrilled that I got these & only hope to snatch up a few more. I nubbed this sucker & taste it still.

I'm a sucker for limited runs anyway - this time, it lived up to my expectations.

(Now if I could only get my hands on an MK-Ultra or Tat Black...)

Tried one at the IPCPR and it was a pretty good smoke but too fresh for me.

In talking with the editor of the ECCJ, there are going to be a couple of mfgs that are going to make a ECCJ edition commemorating ECCJ's 15th anniversary, so look out for at least 1 or 2 more.

Picked up some boxes. Have smoked 6 so far and I really like them. Some down time is going to help them. But I find them a sold med with just a little plus. Spicy and tasty. Yes, they do have slight dry overtone to them but nothing bad. They have a little complexity to them and that's one thing that a little age with help bring it out even more. I picked up a third box just to be safe. I may go for more. Just got a good gut feeling on these.

I picked one up yesterday just because it was limited...even though I've never smoked one.

So far tho, I've liked all of the Illusiones I've had. I'm sure this will be the same.

Jeff, we had the MK, I believe. It's a little more full-bodied than the ECCJ from what I hear (have yet to smoke one of the ECCJs.

I am just about through 1 of them and have layed the other 2 down for a nap. They are very good with lots of flavor. The kind of remind me of the MK but bigger. The flavor you get from them is out of this world.
