  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

i've been a cigarette smoker for years (i know, don't flame me on that one). anyways, i've come to smoke fast. i'm working on slowing down, but granted, i fail sometimes. i smoked a cruzado last night that was a great smoke. it lasted about an hour and a half. i did milk it cuz i loved it (bought a box today). is that about right? i'm still trying to get the hang of cigars. i don't think i caught too many nuances, but i loved it nonetheless.

That's all that matters.

When I finally quit smoking cigarettes in June/July of 07 I definitely started enjoying cigars more. I used to smoke a cigar every week or even every other week. When I quit, I slowly started smoking more & more cigars to the point that I now smoke everyday.

Also, I think it's a common challenge to smoke slower to really enjoy a stick - it's amazing how different some taste when you really take your time. Try the JJ Maduro or El Triunfador or Cabaiguan Maduro - all three I believe have the same wrapper. Slow gets more cream, fast gets more spice.

I usually try to take a minute in between puffs, of course if I am biting on it I may puff a little more often as the puffs aren't as big

Nothing beats relaxing with a nice smoke. I like to take my time with it if I can.

I love smoking cigars and get a chance to smoke only when driving. Wifey hates the smell states that I'm killing her:crytears: I am trying to find a place I can go sit watch TV or read. Nothing like sitting down and enjoying a smoke.:hearteyes

I hadthat problem before, but not from cigarrettes (loathe those), but from just being too impatient. Then I made meself go slower, even counting time (no longer for I am already used to it) and checking how it burns. If, when ashed, the cigar's filler is longer than the wrapper (makes a cone shape), ye're going too fast. Yet as long as ye enjoy it, as Saully said, that's what really matters.

i find it's a little easier to enjoy my smokes in the winter. luckily i get to smoke indoors. in the summer when i'm driving or working in the yard, i tend to puff away absentmindedly so that's why i smoke different (read cheap) cigars in the summer. in the winter i can take may time and find i have enjoyed some really exceptional cigars!

AZ Steelman is the guru of smoking cigars slowly. I have watched him nurse a PC for over an hour. I am in awe.

I try to smoke slowly, but I rarely manage more than 45 seconds between pulls. I'm getting better, though... this time last year I was probably puffing about once every 30 seconds.
