  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Does anyone have any info on this new line of tools at Sears? They say that they are made by Craftsman & have a lifetime warranty. I did some digging online & did some reading on them. I was just wondering if anyone had some personal experience with these tools.

My Mom has a set and they're okay. Not nearly as nice or strong as most craftsman tools and certainly no match for their professional line. When given a good squeeze the pliers seem to "flex" a bit more than they should, and the crescent wrench is a little gritty. Not my cup of tea, but then again I don't like to have to go easy with my tools. Not a bad set for general around the house stuff. They have nice grips on them and seem to be geared more towards women.

My sister has a set. great for putting together furniture, small lightduty jobs around the house. Not sure they are designed for women as some of the screwdriver handles are a bit large for the average womans hand. As for the warrenty, only covers manufacturing defects. If you use tools often go for the regular or professional line it's worth the extra money.

Ya thats kinda what I thought as well. I just wasn't sure about them when I saw them on the shelf. I'll stick with Craftsman & Snap On.

I've used craftsman and think there junk. I've snapped sockets and stripped ratchets with hand torque. They used to be good along with there power tools but those days are long gone. Lifetime warranty sure but when I buy tools I don't want to be wasting time returning them. "Official tool of NASCAR doesn't mean shit to me" My Dad uses Snap-On. Believe it or not I have a $100 Husky set from the Depot and have been using it hard for over 6 years haven't snap any sockets or broke any ratchets and have used the sockets on impact guns. If you can afford the Snap-On go for it, ask my Dad when the truck comes again. If you're just tinkering around the house it probably doesn't matter. Just my opinion.

I hear ya. I have some of my grandfather's old Craftsman tools. They are way better than the ones out now. But the lifetime warranty is what gets me. Husky is good stuff. I have some of their stuff too. I was just out tool shopping & saw some new stuff & was looking for some info.

I've looked at the Evolv tools, and they seem cheap. Craftsman hand tools are pretty decent, and worth the extra money. I've also had good luck recently with Kobalt tools from Lowes. They used to be made by Snap-On, but I think they're now made by the same company that makes most Craftsman stuff.
