I drilled a hole in the back of the unit

When rh & temp get within 3 degrees from one another we get fog on the river. The only time that doesn't happen is when it's very windy. I'd say either more airflow, or change your temp by more than 3 degrees.

That's assuming the condensation is contributing to the mold.
