  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

at first it was addicting... now i might check once a week
Same here. I was on it a lot in college, now I'm lucky to log on once a week. Mostly because I do not dig a lot of the the crap that they have added. Use it mostly to share pics of the kid with family that doesn't live close by and to stay in touch with a few friends.

i am setting up a business page
Read the book by Jeffrey Hayzlett. He was the CMO that used Facebook, Twitter and other social networking to not only stop the decline of Kodak but to turn turn it around to monster profit levels. Incredible read and man.

I do not have a FB account, and most likely will never join. To be honest, I could give a flying f**k. First, my industry will not allow me to use an internet social network to discuss my work. Two, I'm tired of seeing a$$hats who hated each other 20 years ago showing up as bullshit FB friends. If we hated you back then, we will most likely hate you now!!! If I were to see some of these guys, I'm gonna knock them the f**k out for shits and giggles. With a heavy ass bar stool.

FYI I was on Twitter for a while, but I was tired hearing my buddies were going to put some taquitos into the microwave. I could give a f**k what you are going to eat, or how your wife is being bitchy!!

For some people FB is an amazing experience/tool. I'm just not that guy.

I deleted my account when they started to allow your friends to 'check you in' to different places. Between that and it all the info Facebook gives out-I just decided it was too much.

I use it to stay in touch with friends and find out what the heck my family is up to. Also a good way to see what is going on in the cigar world as a lot of brand owners are on there as well as cigar shops highlighting upcoming events.

what is this facebook, never heard of it. Friendster, that's where all the cool people are. although MySpace seems to be cool also. I've tried to get into the social media thing, then i realized everyone i wanted to keep in touch with from highschool/college i already was in contact with.

Several times a day. At first it was just for keeping up with family and friends. Been using it more and more for business as I have accumulated more and more local followers. I spend maybe and hour a day mainly because I can use it to increase business. I can point my finger to sales as a result of my posts both there and on twitter.

My wife made an account for me a few years back. I actually use it now but it's more of a homebrew blog for me. I think I have my privacy setting as people only being able to find me through friends of friends.

I don't know why some people think that anyone gives a shit about whether they're going to the gym or headed to work.

Helped connect with kids on deployments -- have reconnected with old military buddies that I'd have never found without it. I've learned things about each of my kids that I would never have otherwise -- not that that is necessarily a good thing.

+1 I get the looking up friends you haven't seen a while but I'll use Google. I work in an office full of women and its so funny to me to overhear "Can you believe so-and-so wouldn't accept me as a friend O-M-G" THE NERVE :crosseyed

Kind of a pet peeve of mine too that sometimes I'll hear about a good deal on something only to find that I have to go to a specific places FB page to get the deal, and not having an account cannot take advantage.
