  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Fairly new to this whole thing.

Being relatively new to this whole thing I thought perhaps I should explain a little how I got in to this little (yeah right) hobby.

I was looking for black Friday deals before xmas and came across a deal for 25 Don Kiki Green label 2000 torpedo (I missed out on the Churchill) for 30 bucks. A quick search on these made me decide that they would be pretty good to start out with so I placed the order. Merry Christmas to me.:santa2:

Since then, I also found a really good deal on a 20 cigar sampler and got the following...
Por Larranaga, Silver band, dark wrapper
Por Larranaga, Silver band, light wrapper
Por Larranaga 1834, Gold band, very light wrapper
A Fuente Gran Reserva
Henry Clay
Don Tomas, cameroon collection
Helix, blue background on the label
H Upmann Signature, dark wrapper
H Upmann Signature, light wrapper
Oro Rojo, Royal Jamica
Onyx Vintage 1997
La Flor De, Maria Mancini
A Turrent 2000
Baccarat, Dolce Far Niente
Camacho Negro, Very dark wrapper
La Rosa Especial
Santa Damiana
Montesino
La Corona Anvers 1845
Astral Cameroon

I don't know all of the specifics about cigars so I described them for what I see. If anyone has some insight on any of them I appreciate it.

Also found a deal on a box of Rocky Patel Junior Naturals.

After having a few in the house and having my digital projector suck in smoke and screw up the color wheel and also because of the lovely weather (read friggin' cold) I haven't had a chance to toast hardly any. -12F as I'm typing this.

What I have had so far and a noob review.

Por Larranaga, silver band, light wrapper~ smooth and creamy is about all I can say.

Astral Cameroon~ tasted ashy at first, probably didn't light it properly, creamy and a little sweet but got bitter near the head.

Don Kiki Green label 2000~ sweet and buttery, probably more there but I'm new at this.

Rocky Patel Junior Natural~ only had one so far and I was pretty drunk so at this time I can't comment.

Like Kumar said Tatuaje cigars are a must try and I would add to that pretty much anything blended by Jose "Don Pepin" Garcia.

but you might want to finish off what you have there to get an appreciation for the better things in life. no reason starting off at the top!

Use that sampler to your best advantage...trying different wrappers / vitolas / brands & blends will give you an appreciation of how each one tastes and smokes.

Look up each one on the 'net and read reviews of them, as well as what the manufacturer says about them on their website and see how that compares with what you think about it after you smoke it.

You've embarked on a life-long journey, so take it slow and enjoy!

So what's so special about the Tatuaje cigars?

I've seen people talk about the Jose "Don Pepin" Garcia before and plan on trying at some point.

I think you have a good sampler to work through, the key is to try a varity of sticks. I will make the suggestion that if you try more full bodied cigars like some of the Tatuaje line don't do it on an empty stomach!

Tatuaje are delicious cigars, though the ones I've tried have had relatively tight draws for my taste. :devilhead

Might I recommend the Regios.
