I also have been migrating toward smaller RG's. I get frustrated at new cigars that come out with nothing smaller than a 52!

You may be interested in the Reyes Family Cigars Puros Indios line of Big Ring cigars. Cbid has great samplers of Viejo (6" x 60), Pirates Gold Maduro (6" x 60), Cienfuegos (6" x 60), and the Reserva Maxima (6" x 60).
When a large ring cigar has a large head, it sometimes is better to punch the head than cut for easier draw.

I like the bigger ring guages 54-60. IMO the smaller ones do not have better flavor. My current favorit is Alec Bradly's MAXX line of cigars.
My favorite sticks are the PC and TPC sizes in 42 RG. If I go to 50 RG, I like the robusto length and do not like to go over 5.5" for the most part.

Traditional Rothschilde, Petit Corona and Robusto sizes are my favourites. Anything over 50 RG doesn't quite do it for me. Also I don't think I have even a single torpedo or Belicoso in my possession, so I guess I don't like pointy-tipped seegars either...
Its not a fade but a preference. I prefer larger RG cigars....50 and up. The best cigars I have had were over 50 RG.
Larger RG cigars smoke cooler and are blended better. But for me its the cooler smoke that is most important. Once the tobacco is too hot, the cigar is simply unsmokable (imo). Sometimes I can recover it by letter it go out....sometimes not.
I also prefer longer cigars. I rarely smoke past 1/2 way....and nubbing is a once in a blue moon event. Most cigars become acrid and bitter past the halfway point.

I like cigars of all sizes. I try to keep a differing selection. I have smokes from partagas shorts, to churchhill sized gurkhas, and even a few perdomo inmensos. I will give you one thing the inmensos at 70 are at my limit. I can smoke one and to make it comfortable to smoke I pretty much have to smoosh it a bit. I have like 4-5 of a 10er I bought. They're tasty smokes. I do tend to keep towards robusto sizes though. I'm a 50-60 kind of guy. I once smoked a Natural Egg and it was just too long of a smoke going from a 40ish ring to a 80 something took FOREVER. It was about 5 years ago but it took a good 2-3 hours.
It seems to me that all cigars have their own personality, so it is not so much a matter of rules, it's a matter of the experience and the flavor. More than 54 rg is a lot, but those Casa Blanca Jeroboams at 66 rg are something not to be missed. Some Lonsdales are fine, and I can really get behind some Panatelas. But for every size I have loved, I can remember one the same size I hated. It has a lot to do with what you expect - if you tell yourself that you hate fatties, then it will be a waste of time to try one.
Me? I keep an open mind. Like the joke, where the young bull wants to "run down and get one of those cows" while the old bull says "no, let's walk down and get them all." I want to smoke them all, at least until I try something that I know I do not like. Then I get a different one next time.

That's why I said that I have to smoosh the Inmenso down a bit once I get the end moist. Other wise it's a bear to smoke, with the head smooshed to more of an oval it's way more manageable.

I try to stay 42 or less when possible. Love those small ring gauges.
Me too, like I said earlier, I'm an equal opportunity smoker. However I love the Gurkha perfectos and the RP vintage 1992 in the 6x60 is real good as well.
