  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Finally bought myself a Xikar cutter.

I'm up to 3 different cutters now (not counting the cheapos you get as gimmes now and then). It's almost as bad as the cigars themselves!

I've heard you can get free sheaths for your Xikar lighters/cutters? I just got a new lighter about a week ago (lost my old one. :() ...

Registered my cutter and lighter - hopefully they'll send a sheath for both. My last lighter was an Element with the blue finish, and I'd knocked a fair bit of the finish off just toting it around in my pocket.

Yeah, my experience with Xikar lighters is that they work great, but their finishes are not very durable.

I've a Palio cutter that has permanent residence in my fishing kit bag. :) Love the cutter.

The Xikar I got was simply the brushed-steel finish; it sort of matches the new lighter. Got several compliments on it today while taking lunch on a patio on Denver's 16th Street Mall.

I have both a Palio and a Xikar. While both are excellent, I think the Palio is slightly better. I leave the Palio at home and carry the Xikar with me, so I won't be quite as crushed if I lose it. I also carry the Xikar multi-tool scissors on my key ring, so I'm never without a cutter.

Congrats of the Xiker purchase. I've had my Xiker cutter for 7yrs now and it still cuts as good as the day I bought it.

I've been meaning to try the scissors, but recently I use my Palio. I keep a small bullet punch on the keys, and in a pinch I have a good set of teeth.

I have had a Xikar for a couple of years now. I have had to send it back to be sharpened and the turn around time was very fast. I have both a lighter and cutter and they sent me the leather case for both. Would definitely recommend both.

Send it in to them and they will replace the lighter because the finish has worn off. Life time guarantee and they mean it.
