BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Had this been my first cuban cigar, I probably would have thought "What's all the fuss about?"
Many people love these cigars, I do not like them at all. I have tried them many ways, young and old, and it's just not for me. That being said, I hope you like it and enjoy it. It's a much different animal than anything NC.

A BOTL was kind enough to give me a couple of these that have over a year on them, I am waiting till a gorgeous day, when I will enjoy one on my balcony for the first time. It is already saved as my first CC experience which I have not had yet. Let me know how your series d4 goes... I am excited about mine.
Do your best to walk into the smoke without expectations and you will be better off. There are many different brands of Cuban Cigars, just like with NCs and they all have their own unique flavors. And these flavors do vary within the same brand. I happen to love Partagas, they are one of my favorite brands, but like Kevin, I've yet to have a PSD4 that's blown me away. Now, a Partagas Short? I've never had one that didn't please. So like I said, give the cigar all the attention you can and don't worry about what to expect. If you finish it and say, "what's the big deal" you can either be thankful that the darkside has no hold over you, or you can look to try a few different CCs down the road, at which point the darkside will almost definitely grip you tight in its grasp. :transform
I try to not have too high expectations. Kinda like hearing about the movie everyone is raving about, then you go expecting to be blown away and walk away disappointed. But knowing me I will once again find something that I love (CCs) that will be either expensive, elusive, or illegal.

Can't categorize an entire country's output of cigars. Cuban cigars are (blank). Or Dominican cigars are (blank).
More like, "Rocky Patel Sun Growns are"... or Rocky Patel Olde World Maduro are. I hate to see blanket statements on cigars. Especially CCs.
Personally, I find PSD4s to me medium-med/full bodied, with some spice, and good core tobacco flavors. Not as complex as a Parti Lusitania, but with some similar flavors.
And as far as price, I don't think that CCs are expensive compared to equal quality NC sticks. You can get a PSD4 for the same price as a Pepin if you are in a place to legally buy them, of course

While I understand your sentiment, I would disagree to a small extent. There is something...a taste is the only way I can describe it, but it doesn't do it justice, that all Cubans have that non-cubans do not. In so far as that is the case, a blanket statement can be made.
