  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Soft flame almost exclusively. Unless I'm outside in very windy conditions.

If I'm inside I love a nice soft flame table lighter, it just seems to be that much more gentle on a cigar. When you are correcting a burn issue however or you are outdoors in windy conditions it is GREAT to have a jetflame lighter. That being said I guess it really depends on which you do more of

I always use a torch unless I don't have one available. But, I keep my torch with my cigars so I usually have it. Regardless, I got it on eBad for like $3 from Hong Kong probably over a year ago and it does alright. Sometimes it's tempermental but ya get what ya pay for. I'd do it again in a heart beat though. I know krulos did the same thing and he's pleased with his as well. Important to be careful with the torch not to get it too close when toasting, though, like dprice said. Also, when dealing with canoeing, I think a soft flame would suffice; I barely hit the cigar with a flame (soft or torch) for a moment and the cigar does the rest.

Soft flame.

I tend to scorch the cigar with a torch. I think the lower temp and lower intensity of a soft flame are kinder to the tobacco.

If it's a christmas gift and something to use on nice occasions ask for a soft flame. There's alot of gorgeous soft flame lighters out there. Torches are convenient, but IMHO not as classy.

You can pick up a Ronson jetlite for 3 bucks at walmart for windy occasions. But if you really enjoy cigars you eventually want to have both.
