I've said this before - but this is just a reminder. I'll be breaking BOTL over time in order to get it into a far better place. Just be patient if you can't reach us! We'll be back
very unfortunate .... I can't imagine being in that situation and having to make life and death decisions in milliseconds. I'm sure there are many stories where the officers hesitated and they ended up on the other side of the gun.
When you carry, as I did for years, you have to be cognizant of the rules at all times, and be aware that the good guys will shoot you if there is any way that they can confuse you with the bad guys. This stuff happens, thus I no longer carry. Too much responsibility, not enough need.
We can never have enough respect for the men who protect us with their lives. We can try though.
While I understand the sentiment in the post, anyone who is not a police office who tries what this officer did would be asking for all kinds of trouble. Obviously we don't have anywhere near all the information. Traggic situation, but there are things you do when carrying concealed and things you don't do.
i will not comment on the incident because i do not know what happened. i do know that it is very sad.
that said, it would take a hell of a lot to get me involved in an off-duty situation. i've done it (played cop) for traffic accidents i've rolled up on, and one pretty f'd up DV scene, but that's about it. i'm one hell of a witness though!
