  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Frog Morton or Missouri Meerschaum?

A friend of mine is in the States at the moment and has reluctantly consented to bring home some mail order stuff for me. Beside ordering a couple of corncob pipes (3 bucks in the US, 10 euros in the EU), I thought about ordering some pipe tobacco.

People have spoken highly of Frog Morton, though Missouri Meerschaum tobacco looks good as well (at least on the website).

What are your thoughts on the issue? Which one should I get.

I'm also open to other suggestions. Frog Morton, as I understand, is an English blend which is nice but nothing out of the ordinary. If you can recomend something more exotic (Perique, fire-cured tobacco, etc), I'd also take it into consideration.

I don't know much about the MM tobacco and I've never had the Frog Morton, but my guess is that the overwhelming suggestion here will be the Frog Morton.

For what it's worth, I'm planning on buying the Frog Morton Sampler from Pipes and Cigars as next month's purchase.

I have only had regular Frog Morton and it's a tasty English but I didn't think it was the end all be all compared to other Englishes I smoke. I have had all of the MM blends except for Independence Day. I really like American Patriot (bourbon topping) and Country Gentleman. Missouri Pride was just a standard nutty burley blend to me. Great Dane is probably up there as one of the best Cherry aro's I have tried, but not so good to where I would ever buy it again.

Give Cellar a try. It's leagues above the original

Could have predicted the outcome...
What's the cellar like?

Also, what are your experiences about pipes & cigars delivery time (to California)?

What do you like to smoke usually?
I've mostly smoked English blends so far, partly because my pipe makes everything taste bitter and only with an English blend some of the flavor gets through. I'm hoping the cobs will help me out in that regard.

Before that, I've had a black cavendish mixture that I quite liked.

I never say no to a good English blend, however if it's not that much different to whatever is available in Europe (e.g. Dunhill 965), then I'd prefer to use the opportunity to get something I can't get otherwise.

Not a lot, his baggage was over the limit even when he was flying there.

He's agreed to bring 1.5 oz.

By the way, I also want to order a couple of cigars, so I'd like to time the delivery as close as possible to the date of his departure. What sort of delivery times can I expect?

Order the cigars from SmallBatch. They come super fast (2-3) days and they pack the cigars really nicely with a boveda pack so you'd be good to go RH wise for a couple weeks I bet. We also get a discount there with code BOTL.

I too really enjoyed FM cellar. I just wish it had more of a nic kick. It's super mild in that department.
