Funny smells?

I was packing a pipe this morning when I smelled this burned oil mixed with cat piss smell. Since I smoke on a futon in my garage, I thought a car snuck in and pissed. Got up moved to the other side of the futon. Still there. Got up and smelled the damn thing. Not that. Just took a shower, so I knew it wasn't me. Thought it was maybe my clothes because I'm wearing my derby clothes. Nope. So I keep packing the pipe. It gets stronger. So I smell the bowl. Negatory. I go to put the pipe in my mouth and catch a HUGE waft of it. It's my damn stem.. It has been sitting on my pipe rack for the last 3 months and I've smoked very little out of it. I bought it new from my B&M, and its a no name briar. Anyone's pipe ever smell for no damn reason or maybe could think of why mine smells like that?

I have no idea. I know of if I let mine sit for a long time I get a musty odor. I would soak the stem in some alcohol or something.

Maybe a woodchuck snuck into your house and used your pipe stem as a urinal?

Ok don't try and figure it out here is what you do go get powder oxy clean/sea salt and grain liquor

Put one scoop of oxy clean in a Tupperware you don't want and fill with water then mix around now take your stem ANY DESIGN ON THE STEM PUT VASELINE ON IT SO IT DONT COME OFF. And leave for 24 hours

Now the bowl get a ear plug and plug the shank fill the bowl with sea salt and the liquor for 24 hours (don't get liquor on the outside of the bowl it will take off the dye)

24 hours later clean everything under the tap and clean your pipe really really good with pipe cleaners and liquor and your good

Now you will have to buff your stem but if you got no access to buffing it send it to me or get something at your local b&m
