  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

The description sounded good to me, but that doesn't always mean much. I'd like to try one, though.

I thought the "origin story" sounded kinda sad though, with him breaking with the family and what not.

Tried one that a rep brought in. I think they're OK. Not something that would stand out in the humidor.

Our B&M carries them. Not a bad stick in any way but I agree with indyrob's assessment. My description would be "unremarkable."

Their not intended to be full-bodied, which is totally fine, but what they lack in body they really don't replace in flavor. In other words, its not anything like the Cabaiguan which seems to replace power and strength with richness and flavor.

Again, just my .02 - I only had one of them, so I wouldn't take this too close to heart.

If you already have a customer that loves them, they should sell themselves. (So what's the harm in picking up a few boxes?)

No, they are not gonna kick you in the gut, but they don't lack flavor. I think they taste pretty good, and ya'll know what I like.

I wish I had known - I'd have sent a couple in the box headin your way now.

As a general rule it is not smart to take in any cigar that you are not going to have at least three facings of. One box in the midst of s all the others with numerous facings tends to get lost. Plus, I see no reason to invest in something that is not a quality product, If I wouldn't recommend it to someone I see no reason to bring it in. However, I would still like to try one to see for myself. Good question though Soundwave

What do you mean by facing? What about Illusione? Was that a stick with one facing? Some took a a chance on it & it became hugely succesful. Granted, Illusione is a freakishly good stick (not trying to compare the two).

Either way - I wouldn't get them unless you 'believe' in them - You gotta try em' first.

I think you'll like them.

Had a G.A.R. Robusto Grande last night. Spectacularly well constructed, beautiful cap. Draw was 10/10. Just enough resistance. Burn even throughout.

Taste left a little to be desired. With the look and feel of the cigar, I was expecting something robust. The G.A.R. is not. Don't get me wrong, the mild tea, tobacco and cedar flavors were great and stayed even throughout. Very little development and not too much complexity. 7.5/10 for taste. I wouldn't suggest this stick for someone who smokes only Pepins and Tats, for instance. I like an occasional Hyde Park Cafe, however, and the G.A.R fits right in with that profile.

Overall, a pleasant experience. I would give it about 83 pts.

I tried one the other day, I think it was $7 or $8, not a bad cigar, but not great. Not worth the price, IMO. I will not purchase any more.

Wow. You guys are tough. Maybe I had my expectations set really low when I tried this.
I paid < $6 for it and let it sit for about a month. I was pleasantly surprised by the time I finally lit it up.

Hyde Park? Really? I don't think that's a fair or accurate comparison at all.
They're not powerhouses, but they aren't mild.

I don't get it. Hey well, to each his own!

Which size did you smoke? I certainly stand by my claim that this cigar didn't fit the bill of a medium smoke. Maybe Casa Torano would be a better comparison than the Mac.
